Disaster Relief is one of the 3 programs of the NY District Kiwanis Foundation. The Disaster Relief Program is to prepare for future disasters, both through people and supplies.

​

All New York Kiwanis Clubs can be a part of this project by combining Kiwanis resources and maximizing results.   NY Kiwanians can truly make a difference in NY communities.   Our program is based on non-perishable food collection and the collection of cleaning supplies, baby good (diapers, wipes), gift cards and paper goods.  Clubs can help by:

Non-Perishable Food Collection

Collection of nonperishable food items for our district's Disaster Relief Program.

Great ways for your club to be Disaster Relief ready!

Training:

Take or host a training session in one of these areas, or create one of your own.

  • CPR

  • First Aid

  • Stop the Bleed

  • NarCan

  • Emergency Preparedness

Create a plan for your own emergency kit

Create Kits that will be stored for our Disaster Relief efforts. Below are the items that should be in the Kits:

  • 27 Gallon Bin (available from Lowes for about $12)

  • Small battery powered radio with separate batteries

  • Flashlight with separate batteries

  • First aid kit

  • Whistle (to signal for help)

  • Dust Mask

  • Work gloves

  • Emergency Blanket

  • Duct Tape

  • Bleach

  • Dish Soap

  • Tarp

  • Zip ties

  • Glow sticks

  • Toiletries

  • Freezer Bags

  • First Aid Book

  • Puzzle book & sharpened pencils
